Nubrella Update

Nubrella Shark Tank Update

Hands Free Umbrella First Seen In Season 1, Episode , 1/29/2010

?
season 1, episode 10 Update
Nubrella Umbrella Seen on the
Shark Tank Show
The Nubrella is the Umbrella you really will wish you had when you REALLY need one. Grant it, you may look a little funny (if they can even see you) walking around inside this hands free umbrella, but who cares? What they can not see is you completely dry from the elbows up no matter which way the wind and rain may be blowing. Honestly I have never tried out the Nubrella (I don't think I have ever bought any umbrella before) but after a little researching, I do believe I am adding this to the list of Shark Tank Products that I have collected thus far.
??
The Nubrella was such a unique idea that it had no problem getting accepted in the first season of the Shark Tank Show. The owner and inventor Alan Kaufman, came into the Shark Tank looking for a $200k investment in exchange for a 25% equity stake in the Umbrella Business. Alan claims that this umbrella will never collapse due to strong winds and will keep you much dryer and warmer as a result, all while keeping your hands free for other tasks. The Umbrella currently sells for only $29 and costs Kaufman around $14 to make. Several hundred have already been purchased online with raving reviews from his customer's. Read More Here-->>>

Their Award Winning sauces took second place in a National Barbecue Cook-Off and landed them a deal to get into their first major grocery store chain. They parlayed this opportunity into a chance to appear on the the Best Business Reality TV Show in US History, The Shark Tank Show.

Pork Barrell Barbeque on Shark Tank
Pork Barrel BBQ
Sample Pack
The name might have pork in it but the sauces and rubs tastes just as good on chicken and beef as well. In fact these sauce's will make every kind of meat taste better. The best advise for anyone that goes in front of the Sharks with a food product, is to get them fed as soon as possible. That's exactly what Heath and Brett did wasting little time handing out samples of the Pork Barrel BBQ sauce. The entire Shark Tank loved the Pork Barrel immediately.

Joe Moore the inventor of this clever devise explains "you basically just peel and stick the almost invisible sticker directly on your nose hole for instant results".

Think of it almost like an air cleaner for your respiratory system that blocks out breathing allergies in the fist place

Cool Idea Hugh? I thought so and so did the Sharks. In fact this is such a cool idea that it got a $5 million dollar offer for the entire company which set a record for the highest dollar amount ever offered on the Shark Tank Show.

Lifter Hamper Update

Lift Hamper on Shark Tank

Spring Loaded Clothes Hamper -  Season 4 Update
Marvin Phillip's Lifter Hamper season 4
The Lifter Hamper
Finished Product
I'm not sure how I missed this one, but the Lifter Hamper has to be the coolest clothes hamper on the market that thousands of people with back problems are going to love. The inventor of The Lifter Hamper is Marvin Phillip, a NFL Star who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steeler's back in 2006. In 2008 Phillip had a back injury that sidelined Him for the rest of the Season when it was difficult just to bend over.

Marvin may not of been able to play Professional Football but that didn't stop Him from helping out around the House including doing the laundry. Having to bend over to complete this task, Phillip reasoned there had to be a better way. What if the hamper was spring loaded going down when you put clothes in the hamper, then rises back up when you take them out? A light bulb went off and Marvin's entrepreneurial spirit took over designing the Lifter Hamper that would make bending over a thing of the past.

Marvin Phillip entered the Shark Tank seeking $85,000,00 in exchange for a 12% equity stake in the Lifter Hamper Business. He was already in the hamper business for 6 months with contracts from two rep firms, but no real sales yet to speak of. With such a cool invention for anyone with back problems, it would seem like a great product for Lori Greiner's QVC Show. But a product that has not proven itself in the market yet, and an extremely high valuation at this point in the game, left Lori very little choice but to go out. In fact all the Sharks go out as it appears Phillip had made the most common mistake for contestants not getting a deal on the shark Tank by over valuing their business.

Shark Tank Episode 417 Update

Shark Tank Show Episode #417

Friday July 12, 2013

This Friday Night's Shark Tank Show was first seen earlier this year in March of 2013. Since that time, I can safely say that all four Entrepreneur's from this episode have been extremely busy and all of them have become a Huge Success in their own right. It's not very often I can say that about all the contestants seen on a single episode, but this one I most definitely can.

Cell Helmet Update:

The Cell Helmet is a cellphone case that comes with a guarantee if anything should ever happen to your iPhone. If your cell phone does get damaged while inside the Cell Helmet, they will either fix it or replace it with a brand new iPhone.  The Sharks did find a few holes in their business plan and as a result did not invest in this business. Bad Mistake!

I thought the cell phone insurance was Great Idea then and I think it's even a better one now. Since appearing on the Shark Tank, Cell Helmet sales are up over 1000% with several hundred retail stores now interested in carrying this very creative new business model.

Chef Big Shake Update

Big Chef Shake on Shark Tank

Shrimp Burgers Season 2 - episode 201 - Update
Chef Big Shake doing some serious grillin of His Shrimp Burgers
Shawn Davis (aka Chef Big Shake)
One of Shark Tank's Most Successful Entrepreneurs
The Original Shrimp Burgers first appeared on the Shark Tank Show on March 20, 2011 when Shawn Davis (aka Chef Big Shake) was one of the first contestants in Season 2. The Shrimp Burgers came in 4 different flavors including Teriyaki, Jalapeno, Cajun and the Original which was sold under the CBS Foods Business that Shawn was the proud owner of.

Big Chef Shake came into the Shark Tank looking for a $200,000.00 investment for a 25% equity stake in the CBS Foods Brand. At that time Davis already sold over 22,000 Shrimp Burgers grossing around $30k. His ultimate goal was to get his products into Grocery Stores around the entire country. A very ambitious goal considering how much CBS Foods was currently doing in sales, but with the Sharks help, Chef Big Shake was certain he could make his dream into a huge success.

Most of the Sharks loved the Shrimp Burgers but for one reason or another no offers were made for the CBS Foods Business and Shawn left with no deal. What seemed like a risky deal for the Sharks turned into a fantastic deal for a few Angel Investors watching the Show.

You Smell Soap Update

You Smell Soap on Shark Tank

Luxury Soap - Season 3 Episode 301 Update
Megan Cummins on the Shark Tank
Robert Herjevic closes Deal with Megan Cummins
During the Shark Tank Show
The You Smell Soap Brand was started by Megan Cummins to bring new luxury soap into the market. What started out as a College project on custom packagin turned into the You Smell Soap Brand which she had two distinct scents made into 1200 bars of soap to test the market. She clearly states the company is in "Pre-Venture Stage" with no sales to speak of. The luxury soap was sent to different outlets around the world to test the market and come up with a price point for this luxury item. With several interested stores, Urban Outfitter's was the largest Company interested in perhaps carrying the You Smell Soap Brand.
You Smell Luxury Soap
Megan then brings out other invention which is You Smell Paper Soap. It's as you guessed it, soap on a convenient piece of paper and packaged as a convenient way to clean up, not to mention a great impulse buy sitting on store counters.

You Smell Soap Shark Tank Recap:

Megan came into the Shark Tank looking for a $55,000.00 investment in exchange for a 20% equity stake in the You Smell Soap Business. Mark Cuban is the first to offer a deal to  Cummins for exactly what she is looking for. He then tries to close the deal before any of the other Sharks can even make an offer.

Barbara Corcoran immediately butts in and says she is the better investor to partner with, but she wants 40% of the soap business to make it a success. If the offer wasn't bad enough, Corcoran also throws on a 10 cent royalty for every bar of soap sold.

Robert Herjevic wants to know if Megan is already devoted full time to this business, which she says she is also working for herself as a graphic designer but hopes to turn the Soap Business into a full time occupation with the Sharks help. Mark Cuban, the determined Shark that usually does get his way when he sees an opportunity that he likes, tries his hardest to convince Megan to accept his offer.

That’s when Herjevic steps in and almost sounds like her Dad might sound looking out for her best interest. Robert offers Megan exactly what she came into the Shark Tank looking for, $55k for 20%, but he also sweetens the offer with a $50,000.00 guaranteed salary for the first year.

As many episodes I have watched on the Shark Tank (all of them) I have to say I have never seen Mark Cuban so determined, almost begging, for Cummins to accept his offer. In his mind it was not the petty $50k it would take to close the deal; it was the millions they would make together in the future.

Robert was offering a cushion of a guaranteed thousand dollars a week, while Mark was offering a million dollar opportunity within that same year. Barbara decides her offer stinks and tries to sweeten it down to a 30% stake in the company that was still not even close to the other offers on the table.

Now here's an interesting fact concerning an article I wrote about yesterday when Barbara Corcoran was featured on the "What Would You Do TV Show" dealing with gender discrimination. It mainly had to do with a male determined to hire another male for a job opening. Not because he was better qualified, but because of his gender.
Barbara comments on this episode, and I quote "Women work harder and you know it". She then goes on to say "put one women in any situation and she will out work the guy any time". OUCH I actually felt that one.
As hard as Barbara and Mark tried to persuade Megan in their direction, the temptation of a guaranteed $50k salary from Robert was too much, which she did end up accepting his offer. He quickly stood up to shake hands and close the deal which Megan did shake his hand. A deals a deal after you shake on it, right? We'll I guess it depends on who's hand your shaking.
You Smell Soap Shark Tank Update:
Megan Cummins had 3 Sharks fighting to get a piece of her new soap business and ended up choosing Robert Herjevic as her partner. As with all deals made during the show, there is a due diligence phase all contestants and Sharks go through before signing the papers and money being exchanged.
strong>Megan says she tried for 6 months to get a hold of Robert
after they filmed but before the airing of that episode. Really? Robert sweetens the deal away from two other Sharks that really are interested and then backs out? It gets better. After trying unsuccessfully to contact her new Shark partner for several months, word came back that he did not realize this business was a start up and had no sales. (Refer back to the beginning of this article) Was Robert Herjevic trying to back out of the deal or was it just not worth his time?
Months later Megan did finally get a contract from Herjevic to buy into her company as promised on the Shark Tank. Only thing was the terms were changed and now he wants 50% of the business which is far above his original offer and not even close to the offers made by Mark and Barbara.
I have never heard of such a deal ending like this and hopefully it's the only one. That $50k is peanuts in how much it cost Roberts’s reputation. I'm sure he did his due diligence to come up with his final decision, but may not have handled it like a professional Shark in his position should or could have.

If it was the only offer on the table that night, maybe that would be different. But to make an offer so much more generous than the other Sharks and then not even answer your phone, would down right piss me off. Fortunately this was filmed at the beginning of season 3 and he may have realized it's in his best interest to honor his part of the deal or at least not keep people hanging when they are counting on you as a new business partner.
As Megan demonstrated on the Shark Tank, she is no quitter and with or without a deal with Herjevic, the You Smell Soap would become a Success. And it has! When the Shark Tank did finally air the You Smell Soap episode, the interest started pouring in from new fans of Megan’s too large retail outlets that were interested in carrying her products. The only thing was she still did not have the needed capital to fulfill all those orders.
But things began to fall in place with so much interest after being seen on the Shark Tank. Within a few months of the airing, Megan was able to start working full time on building up the You Smell Soap Brand. Her Fiancée followed suit shortly after that and it's now it's become a full time commitment for them both just to keep up with all the orders that are still pouring in.

Next Shark Tank Show

Kickstarter Success = Shark Tank Success
Rerun from January 11, 2013
Seen on the Shark Tank
A Great Way To Get On The
Shark Tank Show
If there is one sure fire way to get noticed and possibly get on the Shark Tank Show it would have to be with how successful your crowd funding campaign was. It's become very clear in season 4 that the ABC producer's overseeing the Shark Tank very much take your crowd funding success into consideration when deciding who gets to be on the show.  And why shouldn't they? Unlike any other business type reality show, the Shark Tank Show, ABC and even Disney have a direct financial stake in ALL products and services seen on the show. The more successful you can prove that there is indeed a market for your invention using a crowd funding platform, the more interest you will receive from the producer's WANTING you on the show. That's a Huge Advantage from everyone else that may have a good idea, but is still unproven to be a winner.

This weeks rerun of the Shark Tank has two different inventions that first got their major break using Kickstarter.com to launch their businesses. The first one and one of Kickstarters biggest success stories to date is Coffee Joulies. Can you imagine having a Great Idea and starting a crowd funding campaign that averages over $10,000.00 A Day for a solid month straight? Having successfully raised over $300,000.00 in a little over a Months time, the two Dave's quickly climbed above the competition and became a favorite for the producer's to get this product on the show.----------- >READ FULL STORY HERE <----------

Mike Szymczak and Jason Lucash came into the Shark Tank as confident about their invention as any contestant that has ever taken the long familiar walk. They were seeking a $150,000.00 investment for a 15% equity stake in this very unique pocket sized speaker business. The OrigAudio's first product demonstrated is called The Rock-It. This clever devise allows you to turn just about anything into a workable speaker simply by attaching it to whatever you wish to make into a speaker. The vibration technology used in The Rocket attaches to the object which then amplifies your music using such things as a disposable cup, different sized trash cans or containers  and even a boat turned on it's side when you will really want to crank the volume up. It's just a super cool invention that will have you experimenting turning all kinds of things into a portable speaker.

??Mike and Jason then pull out the next Orig Audio product called the "Fold and Play". This fordable speaker is made out of all Eco-friendly products and requires no direct power to turn it into a speaker for you iPhone, Smart Phones, Tablets and Computers. Again, all the Shark Tank Inventors seem very impressed with this invention and want to learn more about the business side.
